I have a Zoom H6 audio recorder and it's a really nicely designed and engineered piece of kit. So I thought maybe that Zoom Q2n-4K would be a great addition for me at some point in the future when I actually contact with other human beings, safe in the knowledge they are free of contagion. Obviously, the video from the Zoom product won't compete with that, but it seems to be the best in class when it comes to audio quality, and I trust Zoom to deliver that.
Sorry, something else I should add. Almost any camera looks decent enough if you have the lighting right. It's a bit like tuning drums and placing mics. Get the lighting levels high enough, the shadows banished etc, and it all starts to come together. I must say that the guy who posted the video above is no lighting expert!

So now I have the 4K version. I was actually thinking of listing it for sale here on StratTalk. Anyway, I had a pretty sweet setup with it, setting it up into my Soundcraft Notepad mixer and I was recording over backing tracks. Either way, was able to get it going pretty easily.
Surprisingly, the tiny screen plus buttons is pretty intuitive. Resulting audio was very good, the vid was dismal but kinda of proved out my theory that it is a matter of lighting. In a couple of days when was start to do real recordings, I am going to bring in some additional lighting.
Betting that will do the trick. Interestingly, as usual, I find having to convert file formats to be kind of a pain but I managed that too, so I guess maybe it's not such a pain. I don't work with video very often so I lack familiarity. For the money, I can't imagine anything else that would do this job and have the emphasis on the quality of the recording. Not sure what to make of this gadget, the controls are pretty intuitive, it's not that expensive, it sounds good, but as has been reported by many, the video quality is really terrible, especially if you try to go by the recommendations in the manual. Grainy and ugly is what we got in regular room light, and even after augmenting with more lighting.
Ease of operation, good design, good sound but the behavior with regard to video is bizzare. Feb 27, 8, North Carolina. Not video, but my H1n works very well for live audio recording. The automatic level mode does what it's supposed to do and there is no distortion on even the loudest parts.
